PRODUCT CARE

All of BUNOSILO products are handcrafted using the finest natural fibers and traditional artisanal skills. The subtle variations in color, texture and finish are the signature of the human hand. Creating each product is a lengthy process rooted in the crafts-based traditions of hand spinning, dying, weaving, block printing and embroidery, each with its own regional specialty and character. We use both vegetable dyes and commercial dyes with the goal of minimizing our impact on the environment while striving for the best color properties.

Each product has a separate care section, with instructions to follow.

Material

Caring for cotton is very simple and the more you wash it, the softer and more absorbent it becomes. The following tips will help you extend the life of the product.

  • Machine wash cold on gentle cycle as cotton may shrink a little.
  • Wash items with like colors and turn your clothes inside out, especially dark colors. Since some are hand dyed the items may need to be washed separately the first few times.
  • Keep your zippers and hooks closed to avoid snagging other items in the wash.
  • If you choose to use bleach, use non-chlorine bleach, which is less harsh on your fabrics and on the environment.
  • Tumble dry low heat. Remove items promptly from dryer preferably when still damp.
  • For ironing use warm to hot iron while damp. If the item has dried, use a spray bottle to dampen the fabric to achieve a crease free crisp look.

Linen is on of the most comfortable and durable fabric that is made from fibers of the flax plant. Taking care of linen is easy. Moreover, it grows softer and more lustrous with age.

  • Wash in lukewarm or cold, and preferably soft, water. Gentle washing machine cycle and mild soaps are best for linen.
  • Machine dry in cool temperatures and remove when still slightly damp as over drying can make linen stiff and crackly. When removed from the dryer linen items can be hanged on a hanger or dried flat on the ground to completely dry it out.
  • Ironing is not really a priority when it comes to linen items, unless they are really crushed. Still, if you prefer ironing, it would be a good idea to iron while the fabric is still damp. Otherwise, iron with steam at medium-to-hot.
  • Store your linens in a cool dry place; avoid plastic bags, cardboard boxes and cedar chests.

Silk is the strongest natural fiber, has a beautiful drape and is naturally crease resistant. Silk also gets stained with water. It loses its strength when wet and therefore needs to be treated gently during laundering.

  • Dry Clean only
  • Use a warm iron if needed.

Wool is an excellent fiber at absorbing perspiration and insulating the skin and is resistant to wetting. Wool has great elasticity and is the most crease resistant of all natural fibers, but is only one third the strength of cotton.

  • We recommend Dry Clean only
  • Wool is very elastic, so avoid stretching the fabric when wet. Always flat dry and keep away from direct sunlight for drying.
  • Wool is the most crease resistant of all natural fibers. If you need to remove any wrinkles, you can iron using a damp cloth and a steam iron. You can also try hanging the item in the steam from a hot shower.
  • If you dry clean, do not store item in plastic bag because wool needs to breathe.

Techniques

Khadi fabrics are both hand spun and hand woven - Khadi fabrics have irregular texture in yarn as well as fabric making it very special. It has a very soft feel and texture, keeps you cool in summers and warm in winters.

Dry clean your Khadi garments or wash in cold water with mild soap. Do not wring excess water out. Dry fabric in shade as sun may cause color fabric to fade. Wash dark colors separately and never use chemical bleach.

Hand woven - Hand woven fabrics have weaving irregularities, giving them a textural beauty and visible character. It has the added value of allowing more air penetration and is therefore cooler, softer, and more absorbent and breaths better. This added breathability means you will stay cooler in the summer. Care should be taken to avoid snagging and pulling of the threads, please wash in gentle cycle.

Natural dyed fabrics have slight color variations, which make them very unique. We recommend that care instructions be followed carefully to minimize color transfer and fading.

These garments should be hand washed separately and dried away from direct heat and sunlight to prolong their life span. Naturally dyed textiles will age agreeably over time, but each shade will be beautiful.

Hand printed fabrics will have slight color and pattern variations making the product different in the market. We recommend that care instructions be followed carefully to minimize color transfer and fading.

Many of these garments would benefit from being hand washed separately and should always be dried away from direct heat and sunlight to prolong their life span.

We use intricate hand embroidery on many of our garments making each item one of a kind. They should be treated with great care to prevent threads pulling. Please wash inside out. Do not iron directly on embroidered areas.

All Pottery items should be handled with care and Hand washed. They should be wiped clean after wash.

To make jewelry last longer it must be cleaned regularly and stored safely. It should not come in contact with cosmetics, perfume, water or oil, and should be stored away from light, dust and moisture.

About

Bunosilo is a multi-vendor platform that curates an exquisite range of handcrafted products. It is a 'slow-fashion' contemporary brand, campaigning to transform today's globalized mass-oriented fashion industry.

With a blend of art and elite pick of crafts across Indian culture, we curate a luxurious ethos of tradition and heritage, styled to the quintessence of your persona.

Excluding the negative externalities of a middleman, Bunosilo initiates a direct dialogue between the maker and the consumer, adding to either party's benefit.

To develop a deeper relationship between the consumer and the product, we labour to educate our consumer of the product, the process involved in making it, the craft associated with it. This done to discourage them from The current trend of Use and Throw. This understanding of the textiles and hand processes deployed, not only is of value to the maker but also helps shift the consumer ideology to a better and sustainable alternative.

A dialogue between the consumer and the maker, helps the maker understand his preferences, likes and inclinations, who then crafts a befitting product aligned to the customer's need and requirements. This symbiosis makes both the maker and the customer beneficiaries; with the former demanding products tailored to their persona and the latter restricting production to what has been ordered.

We believe every curve is beautiful and endeavor to go beyond stereotypes of shape and size. We aim to provide Customization options for women and men of all sizes. We vouch by the motto of slow and sustainable fashion and ensure the involvement of a hand process, in the entire chain of manufacturing. We follow the practice of '1 product by 1 artisan' to support marginal designers and prevent de-skilling of artisans. All our products are tagged with the process it has followed to reach you.
