Spinning is an ancient practice of twisting drawn out strands of fibers to make yarn. While traditional hand spinning involves twisting fiber using simple tools like spindle and distaff, contemporary spinning wheels are hand driven and involve twisting the fiber while rotating it on the wheel.
The characteristic of spun yarn vary according to fiber length, alignment, quality and degree of twist. In this process, there is less wastage of core yarn as the artisan spinning by hand can alter speed to adapt with yarn length.
